Gregg’s Children’s Cancer Run 2010

The eagerly anticipated date for the 28th Gregg’s Children’s Cancer Run 2010 has been announced as Sunday the 9th of May and yet again Metro Radio will be part of it.
Every year thousands of children, parents, schools, and businesses put on their running shoes and head to Gosforth Park to take part in the five-mile annual fun run, which has now raised over £5 million since it started in 1983, for the North East Children’s Cancer Research (NECCR) charity.
The NECCR was created in 1979 by a small group of parents who had all been affected by childhood cancer in some way. Money raised for the NECCR directly benefits the Northern Institute for Cancer Research at the RVI, and their world-renowned research into childhood cancers, which brings hope and a future to the children of the North East and their families.
The race is supported by some of the region’s top personalities including, Metro Radio’s Captain Marky Mark, Brian Moore and Anna Foster. Famous comedian Brendan Healy, former Newcastle star, Paul Bracewell, Olympic medal winner, Steve Cram and ITV presenter Ian Payne.
The run will be held at Newcastle Racecourse on Sunday 9th May 2010. There is a five-mile cross-country run and a one-mile event for under sevens. Entry is £10 or £5 for under sevens. For more information go to www.childrenscancerrun.co.uk or email childrenscancerrun@ncl.ac.uk
